Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 ½ teaspoons cajun seasoning (I like Slap Ya Mama seasoning or Tony Chachere’s)
1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Instructions
Heat your 5-quart air fryer to 380°F and let it warm up for about 5 minutes.
Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces roughly 1 inch each and toss them in a bowl with the olive oil to coat.
Add all the spices including cajun seasoning, sugar, salt, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, poultry seasoning, thyme, and parsley, then mix everything well to cover the chicken evenly.
Spray the air fryer basket lightly with an olive oil spray to prevent sticking, then lay the chicken pieces out in a single layer; you may need to cook in batches.
Cook the chicken in the air fryer for 7 to 11 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the chicken often to ensure they cook evenly.
Check that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F before serving immediately.
Notes
Check the FAQ and ingredient list for substitutions and common questions
The sugar adds a sweet balance similar to Chick-Fil-A nuggets and helps with char and flavor depth
Red pepper flakes can be left out if you prefer less spice
You can substitute Creole seasoning for the cajun seasoning
Adjust air fryer settings according to your model as cooking times may vary
