Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1⁄2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1⁄4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 400°F and let it heat.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp, about 5 to 7 minutes, then transfer to paper towels to drain and crumble once cooled.
  3. Brush chicken breasts with olive oil and season both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Heat a large oven-safe skillet on medium-high and sear chicken for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Lower heat to medium and spread barbecue sauce over the chicken, then sprinkle cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top.
  6. Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped green onions and, if desired, add red pepper flakes for heat.
  8. Let the chicken rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For crisp tops, broil 2–3 minutes at the end
  • Use thick-cut bacon for stronger flavor
  • Increase red pepper flakes or add hot sauce for more spice
  • Sear chicken well before baking for best crust
  • Rest chicken after baking to keep it juicy
