  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the penne pasta following package directions until it’s tender but still firm, then drain it and save a cup of the pasta water.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium, add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart and cooking until browned, approximately 7 minutes, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Turn the heat down and stir in the heavy cream, then add reserved pasta water gradually until you reach the sauce consistency you like; melt in the Parmesan cheese by stirring.
  5. Toss the cooked pasta in the sauce gently to combine and warm through.
  6. Serve immediately, topping with extra Parmesan or fresh parsley if you want.
