Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced optional
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese or any cheese of your preference
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Warm a large skillet over medium-high heat with some olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and green bell peppers and cook until soft, about 3 to 5 minutes; include mushrooms if desired and continue cooking for 3 more minutes.
  3. Move the vegetables aside and place the ground beef in the skillet, breaking it up and cooking until it’s no longer pink, around 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Mix in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, stirring well for approximately 2 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and lay slices of provolone cheese over the beef mixture, cover the skillet, and let the cheese melt for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. While the cheese softens, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  7. Fill each hoagie roll with the cheese-covered beef and vegetable filling.
  8. Serve immediately or optionally toast the sandwiches for extra crunch.
