1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon paprika (optional for garnish)
1 tablespoon butter melted
Preheat your oven to 375°F
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
Peel and slice potatoes into thin rounds
Cook ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet until beef is browned and onions are soft then drain grease
Season beef mixture with garlic powder onion powder salt and black pepper and stir well
Layer half of the potatoes in the baking dish followed by half of the beef mixture then repeat layers with remaining potatoes and beef
Mix cream of mushroom soup with milk and pour evenly over casserole
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and drizzle melted butter over the top
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes
Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden
Let casserole rest 5-10 minutes then sprinkle with paprika if desired and serve
Notes
For crisp tops, broil 2–3 minutes at the end
