This easy apple crisp is made the old fashioned way like Grandma used to make. Perfect for quick apple desserts, it features a delicious apple crisp topping recipe and is ideal for homemade apple crisp easy preparations.

Ingredients

  • 6 golden delicious apples peeled and chopped other varieties can be used can also be sliced
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats quick oats can be used but it may have a slightly different texture
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter diced into small cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees and butter an 8×8 baking dish or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add chopped apples granulated sugar 3/4 tsp cinnamon and lemon juice then stir to combine and transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar oats flour 1 tsp cinnamon salt and cold diced butter then cut butter into mixture until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  4. Spread topping evenly over apples and bake for 40 to 50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  5. Serve warm optionally topped with vanilla bean ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For crisp tops, broil 2–3 minutes at the end
