One-Pot Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo is a creamy and flavorful dish perfect for an easy dinner or weeknight meal. This family-friendly one pot pasta comes together quickly with bold Cajun spices and rich Alfredo sauce.

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts diced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 cup diced onions fresh is best
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup bell pepper diced optional
  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering then add the diced chicken seasoned with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook the chicken until it is browned and fully cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes, then remove it from the pot and set aside leaving the browned bits behind.
  3. In the same pot, sauté diced onions and minced garlic until fragrant, about 2 to 3 minutes; then add the diced bell pepper if desired.
  4. Stir in orzo pasta, chicken broth, and heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Cover and reduce the heat to low, allowing it to simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally until the orzo softens.
  6. Mix the cooked chicken and grated Parmesan into the orzo until smooth and creamy; adjust seasoning to your taste.
  7. Serve the creamy orzo in bowls and garnish with fresh parsley if using.
