Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is an easy dinner perfect for busy weeknights. This simple recipe delivers tender beef patties in rich gravy making it a comforting family dinner and ideal comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg well beaten
  • ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 ounce packet beefy onion soup mix
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans beef broth
  • 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • fresh chopped parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef egg breadcrumbs onion soup mix milk and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl using clean hands to mix well.
  2. Shape the mixture into eight equal patties.
  3. Coat both sides of each patty with flour tapping off extra and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the patties on both sides without cooking through.
  5. Spray a 6-quart slow cooker and layer the patties inside stacking as needed.
  6. Mix beef broth au jus gravy mix garlic Worcestershire sauce and dijon mustard in a bowl then pour over the patties.
  7. Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until patties are at least 165°F internal temperature.
  8. Remove patties to a plate and simmer the gravy in a skillet.
  9. Whisk cornstarch and water together then gradually stir into simmering gravy cooking until thickened about 1 to 2 minutes.
  10. Serve patties topped with thickened gravy immediately or return to the slow cooker with gravy and keep on warm. Serve with mashed potatoes egg noodles or rice.

  • Regular onion soup mix can replace beefy onion soup mix
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease
  • A 6-quart oval slow cooker is ideal
  • Patties can be made larger resulting in fewer servings
  • To reduce salt use low or no sodium ingredients
