Description
These cheesy sourdough breadsticks are golden on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, with a tangy sourdough base and an irresistible cheesy top.

For the Dough:
- 1 cup sourdough starter (active or discard)
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
For the Topping:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- ¼ cup grated parmesan
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- Optional: herbs, chili flakes, or bagel seasoning
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix sourdough starter, warm water, olive oil, sugar, and garlic powder.
- Stir in flour and salt. Knead 5–7 mins by hand (or 3 mins in mixer) until smooth.
- Cover and let rise 4–6 hours (or overnight in fridge) until doubled.
- Roll dough into a 9×13” rectangle. Cut into breadstick strips.
- Place on parchment-lined sheet, brush with melted butter, top with cheese.
- Optional: Let rest 20–30 minutes for extra fluff.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15–18 mins until golden and bubbling.
- Cool slightly and serve warm!
