Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs boneless skinless
  • 3 tablespoon potato starch
  • 3 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon neutral oil for pan frying
  • 8 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 stalks green onion green and white parts seperated
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • ½ cup chicken stock sub water and chicken bouillon
  • 3 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Green onion green part
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce by combining chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Pat dry the chicken thighs, then mix potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on a plate and coat the chicken evenly.
  3. Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until both sides are golden brown, about 7 minutes each, then remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic, the white parts of green onion, and red chili flakes for about 3 minutes until the garlic turns golden.
  5. Pour in the prepared sauce and cook for about 1 minute until it thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes, ensuring the chicken is fully cooked and glazed with the sauce.
  7. Serve garnished with green onion tops and sesame seeds alongside your favorite vegetables or steamed rice.

Notes

  • Make sure everything is prepped and ready before cooking to keep the process smooth since it goes quickly
  • Lightly coat the chicken to create a subtle crust rather than a heavy breading
  • Consider doubling the sauce recipe to have extra for later use
  • You may also air fry or bake the chicken until crispy if you prefer to cook it differently before adding to the sauce
