Enjoy a crispy and juicy Air Fryer Whole Chicken Holiday that’s perfect for easy dinner, weeknight dinner, or a family dinner. This holiday roast chicken offers a crispy whole chicken air fryer experience that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole chicken 3 1/2 lbs to 5 1/2 lbs*
  • 23 Tbsp extra light olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp fine sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Lay the chicken on a baking sheet or platter and remove the neck and any giblets from the cavity, discarding them. Pat the chicken completely dry using paper towels to help the skin crisp.
  2. Rub the chicken skin all over with olive oil. Mix the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl then sprinkle evenly onto the chicken skin.
  3. Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket; remove the rack if the chicken weighs over 4 lbs to allow proper air circulation.
  4. Cook the chicken at 350 °F for 30 minutes, then carefully flip it to breast-side up and cook for an additional 15 to 35 minutes, depending on size, until the breast reaches 165 °F.
  5. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 to 10 minutes to let the juices redistribute before carving.

Notes

  • *Pick the Right Size Chicken for your Air Fryer: With a rack in most air fryers can handle up to 4 pounds, but a 5 1/2 lb chicken fits in a 6 qt air fryer with the rack removed
  • Make sure air circulates freely around the chicken
  • Cooking times by weight vary from 45 to 70 minutes total
  • Always confirm doneness with a thermometer
