  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • freshly chopped (or dried) parsley (for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs together with water in a small bowl until fully mixed.
  2. In another shallow bowl, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and oil, mixing well.
  3. Mix flour with a pinch of salt and pepper in a separate dish.
  4. Remove wrappers from mozzarella sticks and cut each in half lengthwise.
  5. Dip each cheese stick first into the egg mixture letting excess drip off.
  6. Roll the stick in the flour mixture, coating all sides.
  7. Dip it again in the egg wash, then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  8. Place breaded sticks onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
  10. Spray frozen sticks evenly with cooking spray.
  11. Arrange sticks in the air fryer basket spaced apart and cook for 4 to 7 minutes, checking at 4 minutes to prevent cheese leaking.
  12. Serve right away optionally sprinkled with parsley and your favorite dipping sauce.
