3 cups water see notes
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
2.5 cups sharp cheddar freshly grated
2 cups mozzarella freshly grated
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1.5 tbsp paprika adjust to taste
1 tsp mustard
1.5 tsp sugar
Instructions
Grate all cheeses and gather the ingredients.
Place the dry macaroni and water into a pot and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
After boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the pasta until al dente according to package recommendations.
Lower the heat to the lowest setting and let most of the water evaporate, leaving a bit remaining.
Stir in the cream, cheeses, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mustard, and sugar until the cheese melts and the mixture becomes creamy. Serve immediately for best taste.
Notes
*The amount of water used to cook should be at least 1-2 cups more than the amount of pasta
*Feel free to adjust to taste and use your favorite combination of cheese
*Adding sugar balances out the flavor– it won’t make the dish sweet
*If the pasta water completely evaporates before the pasta is fully cooked, add a bit more water and turn the heat down
