Baby blanket safety: what the AAP says about sleep

Safe sleep: the American Academy of Pediatrics says no loose blankets in a sleeping baby's crib or bassinet before 12 months, so our biggest size is called Large, not Crib. Source: A Parent's Guide to Safe Sleep, healthychildren.org (American Academy of Pediatrics). Our blankets are for the stroller, the play mat and cuddles, with an adult nearby. Check that every end is woven in and that no strand or loop can catch a small finger.

For warmth, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests layers of clothing or a wearable blanket instead of loose bedding.
